TaskMaster VR
I was involved with the QA process for TaskMaster VR during my volountary placement at Draw & Code. During this 2 month period I was tasked with performance and usability testing for TaskMasterVR on the Quest 2 platform.
This was the first role in which I worked on a shipped title later being informed that my work had also been credited within TaskMasterVR
My Involvment
Usability and Performance Testing
The primary focus of my work whilst on my two month placement at Draw & Code was around performance and usability testing for TaskMasterVR and a number of other pieces of software being developed by the team.
I was also taked with documentation and regression testing for the previously mentioned tasks ensuring all previously discovered issues had been correctly fixed and now performed as expected.
Project Management and Issue Tracking
With being part of the QA for a number of projects at Draw & Code learning and implementing their standards, testing procedures and tracking methods weapons also a key part of my work during my placement. A few key areas of this were effective and professional communication with the development teams for each of the projects I was assigned too aswell as understanding the tools use to track and document issues with each piece of software.
Due to the variety of project scale for each of the projects I worked on at my time at Draw & Code the mathodologies used across each project varied. This meant that I had to pick up and learn a number of different planning and tracking methods for bugs and issues and understand apply them in a short period of time.
Learning Points
One of the biggest take-aways from my time and Draw & Code was learning how to properly integrate into a professional team in a short period of time. Due to a variety of factors including project deadline, team size and my temporary position, i was expected to very quickly get up to speed with the standard and methods used by the team i was integrating into.
The second key skill I developed during my placement was my ability to professionally communicate. The fact that I was joining a team of people who I had never interacted with before, my ability to communicate concisely and effectively was crucial and my progress, albeit slow at first, very quickly rose to the standard that the Team expected.
